These chili lime shrimp wonton cups are the perfect party appetizer! We bake wonton wrappers in the oven until crisp, fill them with arugula and lime sour cream, and then top them with a big juicy chili lime baked shrimp.

Chili Lime Shrimp Wonton Cups

These easy wonton cups are like mini shrimp tacos. The shrimp are spiced with chili powder, the lime brightens everything up, and the arugula keeps the whole thing fresh. So many of our readers have made these for parties with great success!

You can even make the baked wonton cups in advance and then assemble them with the arugula, sour cream, and shrimp just before serving. If you love the idea of wonton cups, try our mini fish taco wonton cups or these smoked salmon wonton cups with cucumber and dill!

Key Ingredients

  • Wonton Wrappers: I love using wonton wrappers to make little cups for our shrimp filling. They are really easy to make and keep for a while when stored in an airtight container. I use a mini muffin tin to make the cup shape and lightly season them with olive oil and salt.
  • Shrimp: Use fresh, high-quality large shrimp. If you have frozen shrimp, thaw them overnight in the fridge, and then pat dry with a paper towel.
  • Spices: Use a high-quality chili powder (I love ancho chili powder), or try our homemade chili powder with some extra spices stirred to add flavor. I also season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and lime zest.
  • Arugula: I love a little green in each cup, and arugula is perfectly sized for mini cups. Baby spinach or other baby greens are also great!
  • Lime Sour Cream: I stir a little lime zest and lime juice into plain sour cream for extra flavor. It’s super simple and makes the shrimp pop.

How to Make Chili Lime Shrimp Wonton Cups

First, you’ll make your wonton cups. I use a mini cupcake pan, but you can make these in a regular pan if needed (the cups will just be a bit larger). Brush each side of the wonton wrappers with oil, lightly season with salt, and press the wrappers into the cups in the cupcake pan. I bake them for 8 to 10 minutes in a 350°F oven or until golden around the edges and crisp.

How to Make Chili Lime Shrimp Cups: Baking wonton cups.

While the wonton cups bake, prepare the shrimp. Toss them with olive oil, lime zest, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Then, bake them in the same oven until they are firm and opaque throughout.

I like to assemble the cups close to when I plan to serve them so that they stay nice and crisp. Add arugula to the bottom, a bit of the lime sour cream, and finish with a shrimp. Easy!

These shrimp-filled wonton cups are like mini shrimp tacos. Wonton wrappers are baked in the oven until crisp, filled with arugula and lime sour cream, and then topped with a big juicy chili-lime shrimp. You can make the wonton shells in advance, but assemble the cups just before serving.

Another option for the cups is to use store-bought tortilla chips, sometimes called scoops, in the shape of cups.

Makes 12 Shrimp Cups

Watch Us Make the Recipe

You Will Need

15 wonton wrappers

2 tablespoons olive oil, divided

Salt

12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 lime

1 teaspoon ancho chili powder or homemade chili powder

1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper

1 cup baby arugula leaves

3 tablespoons sour cream

Directions

  • Bake Wonton Cups
  • 1Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C).

2Lightly brush the wonton wrappers on both sides with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Then, lightly season one side of each wrapper with salt.

3Using a mini muffin pan, press the wonton wrappers down into the cups, laying back the corners and pressing the bottoms down to make a defined cup. Bake until lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a rack and let cool.

  • Make Shrimp Cups
  • 1While the wontons bake in the oven, prepare the lime sour cream and shrimp.

2Zest the lime using a Microplane. Add the zest to a medium bowl with the shrimp, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of pepper. Toss well.

3Spread the shrimp onto a baking sheet and bake until firm and opaque, 8 to 12 minutes.

4Make the lime sour cream in a small bowl by stirring 1 teaspoon of lime juice and a pinch of salt into the sour cream.

5To assemble, fill the cooled wonton cups with a few leaves of arugula, a small blob of lime sour cream, and a shrimp. Serve with lime wedges for spritzing on top.

Adam and Joanne’s Tips

  • Wonton wrappers: A few wonton cups may collapse during baking, making them difficult to stand up without falling over. We usually bake a few extras, just in case.
  • Make ahead: The wonton cups can be stored unfilled in an airtight container for up to a week. Fill them right before serving, or they’ll get soggy. The shrimp may be prepared up to two days ahead. Store them in an airtight container in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

Easy Hummus Cups Recipe https://recipeprofessional.com/easy-hummus-cups-recipe/ https://recipeprofessional.com/easy-hummus-cups-recipe/#respond Mon, 30 Mar 2026 01:35:24 +0000 https://recipeprofessional.com/easy-hummus-cups-recipe/

These cute hummus appetizers are perfect for parties and entertaining! We make mini cups using pizza dough and then fill them with hummus and veggies. They are so much fun!

Easy Hummus Cups

If you’re a regular reader, you know how much we adore hummus, especially this simple homemade hummus! We love it so much that we’ve found many ways to serve it. And what better way to enjoy it than with these adorable hummus appetizers made with baked pizza dough cups?

For more hummus inspiration, check out our roasted red pepper hummus and this hummus with spiced beef. You can also use hummus in our honey dijon chicken lettuce wraps or create a delicious platter with hummus, homemade falafel, tahini sauce, and creamy homemade labneh!

Key Ingredients

  • Pizza Dough: I’ve experimented with different pizza doughs for these cups, both store-bought and homemade. One thing to keep in mind is that many doughs puff up during baking, which can fill in the cup and leave less room for the hummus. While we have included some tips to minimize this, I’ve found that Pillsbury pizza dough works best. It doesn’t puff up as much as my favorite homemade pizza dough (which I prefer for my pizza recipes because I love a bubbly crust!).
  • Hummus: Use your favorite hummus for these appetizer cups. I love our easy hummus recipe. You can swap the hummus for other dips, too. Think about baba ganoush (roasted eggplant dip), labneh, smoked salmon dip, or onion dip!
  • Cucumber and Tomatoes: I love adding something fresh, and love cucumber and tomatoes with a tiny sprinkle of salt. I’ve also made this chopped cucumber tomato salad and spooned it into the cups, and I loved it!

How to Make Hummus Cups

Let’s start by making the pizza cups! It’s super easy, but we’ll use a couple of tricks to make sure the dough bakes up perfectly with plenty of room for the delicious fillings.

First, roll the pizza dough into a thin rectangle and use a cookie cutter to cut out rounds. Press each round into a mini muffin cup, then grab a fork and poke a few holes in the bottom. This helps prevent the dough from puffing up too much.

How to Make Hummus Cups: Pressing pizza dough in to a muffin tin

For extra insurance, I like to place a mini muffin liner inside each cup and fill it with pie weights (dried rice or beans work great, too!). It’s the same idea as when you par-bake a pie crust.

Once the pizza cups are baked and cooled, it’s time to fill them with hummus and your favorite veggies! Then, you can enjoy them!

These are such a fun appetizer! You can fill the hummus cups 1 hour in advance. Cover them with plastic wrap and store them in the fridge to prevent the tomatoes, cucumber, and hummus from drying out.

Makes 20

You Will Need

1 (13.8oz) roll Pillsbury Classic Pizza Crust, see tips

1/2 cup hummus, try homemade hummus

1/2 cup diced cucumber

5 cherry tomatoes, quartered

1/8 teaspoon sea salt

Directions

1Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C) and lightly spray 20 mini muffin cups with cooking spray. Set aside 20 mini muffin paper liners, as well as pie weights, uncooked rice, or dried beans for baking the pizza cups.

2Form pizza dough into a 14-inch by 12-inch rectangle (this doesn’t have to be exact, just close).

3Use a 2 ½-inch round cookie cutter to cut out 20 circles of dough. Press each circle of dough into the muffin cups. Use a fork to pierce the bottom of each pizza cup. Three to four pricks with a fork should do it.

4Place a muffin liner inside each pizza cup and fill it with pie weights, uncooked rice, or dried beans.

5Bake the pizza cups for 8 to 10 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown. Transfer cups to a cooling rack to cool completely.

6When cooled, fill each pizza cup with a heaping teaspoon of hummus and top with a few pieces of cucumber and a tomato quarter. Finish with a light sprinkle of salt.

Adam and Joanne’s Tips

  • Pizza dough: While homemade pizza dough is delicious, we’ve found that Pillsbury pizza crust works best for pizza cups. Many doughs, like our homemade dough, puff up in the oven, making it hard to get a deep cup for your hummus. If you want to try your favorite store-bought or homemade dough, here’s a trick: press a cupcake liner into each cup and fill it with pie weights, dried beans, or rice. This will keep the dough from puffing up too much. I’ve added this tip to the recipe instructions so everyone has success.
  • Rolling the dough: If your pizza dough keeps bouncing back on you as you roll it out. Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes on the counter to rest and come to room temperature, and then try again.

Easy Baked Wonton Cups Recipe https://recipeprofessional.com/easy-baked-wonton-cups-recipe/ https://recipeprofessional.com/easy-baked-wonton-cups-recipe/#respond Fri, 27 Mar 2026 05:11:37 +0000 https://recipeprofessional.com/easy-baked-wonton-cups-recipe/

Our easy baked wonton cups are the perfect blank canvas for your favorite fillings! We show you how to transform wonton wrappers into crispy cups, plus delicious filling ideas for them.

Easy Baked Wonton Cups

Wonton wrappers are not just for dumplings! We love creating these fun and easy party appetizers using baked wonton cups as the shell. They’re perfect for a swanky cocktail party but easy enough for a casual get-together.

We’ve been making baked wonton cups for years and have found many ways to fill them. I’ve listed our favorites below. You might also enjoy these chili lime shrimp wonton cups and our mini fish tacos which swap tortillas for baked wonton cups. I also use similar wrappers (just a bit larger) to make our crispy chicken spring rolls!

Key Ingredients

  • Wonton Wrappers: I use square wonton wrappers to make little cups. Wonton wrappers generally come in a few different thicknesses. If you have the choice, go with thin or medium.
  • Oil: I brush my wonton wrappers with a little oil so they crisp and brown nicely in the oven. Avocado oil or olive oil is great.
  • Salt: This is optional, but I like lightly seasoning one side of the wrappers with a bit of salt.
  • Fillings: There are many options for what to serve inside wonton cups. I have shared a handful of fun and delicious ideas below.

How to Make Wonton Cups

It’s really easy to transform store-bought wonton wrappers into mini cups. To make the cups, brush wonton wrappers with oil, lightly season with salt, and then press into mini muffin cups. Bake them until golden brown and crisp. They take 8 to 10 minutes in a 350°F oven, but watch them closely as they will burn quickly.

How to Make Wonton Cups: Pushing wontons into a mini cupcake pan.

While the wontons bake, you can get the fillings ready. In addition to our mini fish tacos and these easy shrimp wonton cups, I have a few more suggestions for what to add to wonton cups:

  • Smoked Salmon Wonton Cups: Fill your baked wonton cups with diced cucumber, a little fresh dill, a small spoonful of crème fraîche or sour cream, and smoked salmon.
  • Goat Cheese Wonton Cups: Fill your baked wonton cups with whipped goat cheese, a little fig jam, toasted walnuts, and a leaf or two of fresh thyme.
  • Crab Rangoon Cups: Add a spoonful of the creamy filling from our crab Rangoon recipe made with cream cheese and crab meat.
  • Pulled Pork: Add some of our slow cooker pulled pork and then top it with my favorite coleslaw. Add one spinach leaf to the bottom of each cup to prevent the bottom from becoming soggy.
  • Carnitas: Fill them with these crispy carnitas and garnish with diced white onion and lime juice.
  • Spinach and Artichoke Dip: Add a spoonful of our easy spinach and artichoke dip. Since this has a lot of moisture, add one leaf of baby spinach to the bottom of the cup to prevent the bottom from becoming soggy.
  • Buffalo Chicken Dip: Add a spoonful of our hot buffalo chicken dip. Since this has a lot of moisture, add one leaf of baby spinach to the bottom of the cup to prevent the bottom from becoming soggy. You can do the same with our smoked salmon dip or this hot crab dip!
  • Guacamole and Shrimp: Add a spoonful of homemade guacamole to each cup, then top with a roasted shrimp.

These baked wonton cups are the perfect blank canvas for your favorite flavors! To ensure you have enough cups for all your delicious fillings, bake a few extra wonton wrappers. Some may close up during baking, so it’s always good to have a few spares.

Makes 20 wonton cups

You Will Need

24 wonton wrappers

1 ½ tablespoons avocado oil or olive oil

Salt

Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Set aside a mini muffin pan.

2Lightly brush wonton wrappers on both sides with oil. Lightly season one side with salt.

3Press the wonton wrappers into the cups, spreading back the corners and pressing the bottoms to make a defined cup.

4Bake until lightly browned, 8 to 10 minutes. Keep a close eye on them as they bake to make sure they are not over-browning.

5Transfer to a rack and let cool.

Adam and Joanne’s Tips

  • Storing: Baked wonton cups will keep, unfilled, in an airtight container for up to a week. For the best results, fill them right before serving.
  • Filling tips: If you have a wet filling, consider placing one baby spinach leaf on the bottom to act as a layer between the filling and the wonton cup. This prevents the moisture from making the bottom of the wonton cup soggy.
